Prepare To Give Back Don’t Prepare To Get Fat

Hi this is Edisha with! We are going to discuss how to avoid extra weight gain during the break and finish up with #BYOBT workout challenge.

This week’s Be Your Own Boss in Health and Fitness tip is: Prepare to give back don’t prepare to get fat! It’s no secret that tis the season to be jolly because school is out, friends and family are coming and there is noticeably less work being done while there is more … shopping! But have you also noticed that you are doing more eating? Do you find yourself grabbing a quick snack from that cookie store at the corner of the food court? Are you nibbling on your kids lunches now that they are home? At parties this past week, were you the first one in grabbing before everyone else then waiting with the aluminum foil and to-go plate? Stop it! Why? Because I can hear you now Mrs. Jones, “Edisha I just don’t know what happened I was thirty pounds lighter; this high-tech top of the line digital scale that measures body fat, water weight and pounds must be off honey! How long you think it’s gone take me to lose it, thirty days?” Hold on now here’s Mr. Jones saying, “Oh, it’s not that bad, all I got to do is play a few games of pick with my boys on the basketball court that twenty pounds will come off! Right?” WRONG! What typically happens to Mr. Jones is, he re-injures his back playing basketball and ends up gaining a few more pounds before he comes back 6 months later during the Summer and hops on the treadmill with a trash bag sweat suit on trying to get “shirt off sexy” while getting dehydrated. And Mrs. Jones typically it’s going to take about 90 days to get that extra baggage you put on over the two-week break. Ladies and gentlemen it is okay to have fun with family and friends but not at the expense of your self-esteem after all, which one of them is going to be there to enjoy the weight gain with you after they leave?  When it comes to socializing this week: think smart. Think Ahead. Avoid the mindless snacking but if you must snack eat things like carrot sticks, nuts, strawberries why not when you know you are going to eat much worse at the gatherings let’s be honest! Avoid the extra food at the parties and the temptation to eat just because you are preparing food for someone else then you just might avoid the extra fat from all of that. You can choose enjoy the festivities or let the festivities fool you!

This week’s #BYOBT  workout challenge is: walking lunges. It’s nice to exercise even with the family. Pick a trail, a gym or your own back yard and do walking lunges. This means lunge with each step count to forty lunges rest 1 minute then repeat  4 to 6 times.
