Learn to Eat Healthy the Budget Friendly Way

Hi this is Edisha with http://www.byobtraining.com. We are going to discuss how to eat healthy on a budget and finish with #BYOBT workout challenge!

This week’s Be Your Own Boss in Health and Fitness Tip is: Learn to eat healthy the budget friendly way! “Eating healthy is expensive! Especially when I can just go down the street and get a juicy burger for two dollars.” said Jaime. You’re right! Nine times out of ten if you go to a restaurant or the grocery store you’ll find you can get a lot more of the “junk” foods for less than your desired nutrient dense meal, which also usually takes longer to prepare. Some disadvantages of eating out of the box is there are artificial preservatives such as high sodium or salt, corn starch, high fructose corn syrup to keep its shelf life. Here are potential problems with this: while the food has been made to stay on the shelf longer; how much longer do you think it will stay in our bodies?!Thus creating indigestion, bloating, and eventually unwanted weight gain because your body was trying so hard to digest the foreign substances this caused you miss out on the beneficial nutrients of the package. But, in the words of Steve Urkel, “Don’t fret my pet!” Here is my top 5 healthy, inexpensive and relatively easy to prepare food/snack list. These foods you can typically find for $5 or less varying upon brand and quantity. You ready? Sweet potatoes, brown rice, spinach, chicken breasts, apples, peanut butter!

This week’s #BYOBT workout challenge: Superset your exercises! This means to do an exercise for one muscle group immediately do an exercise for a different muscle group and then rest before you repeat. For example do 15 push ups primarily for your chest followed by 15 reps of dumb bell shoulder press and that is one set, rest one minute and repeat. Complete 4 superset at 4 sets of 15 repetitions each!
